2021 Scholarship Winners
As summer fades away and schools begin class, we are excited to announce the winners of the SRU Federal Credit Union 2021 Scholarship Contest.
Our first winner is Claudia Allen, a senior at Slippery Rock University. Claudia is majoring in Early Childhood and Special Education, while also working at the Slippery Rock University Preschool and Childcare Center. She has participated in Best Buddies, Early Childhood Club, and the Transition Achievement Program while attending SRU. Claudia’s future goals include teaching Early Childhood or Special Education. She also has plans to continue with graduate studies in education following her graduation in the spring of 2022. Pictured left to right are Martha Allen (mother), Claudia Allen, Gene Allison (Chairman), and Lynne Griffith (CEO).

Brett McClinton, a Grove City native, was chosen as the second winner of the 2021 Scholarship Contest. Brett is a Persian Gulf War veteran who worked as an electrician in the construction industry prior to enrolling in an undergraduate program. He works on small local home improvement jobs in addition to attending classes as a non-traditional student. In his spare time, he serves as a Board member of Armstrong Trails, a non-profit land trust that manages and maintains 37-mile rails-to-trails corridor. Brett attends Slippery Rock University and has chosen a dual major in Environmental Geoscience-Geology and Geography-Applied Geographic Technology. Brett is hoping to find a niche where he can utilize the skillsets of both degrees. He wants to create a positive impact on the world with whatever career path he follows. Thank you to everyone who applied for a scholarship, and congratulations to both of the 2021 winners! Good luck in your future!
