SRU Federal Credit Union has announced its 2024 scholarship program winners, awarding $3,000 in total to three post-secondary students.
The Deb Pincek Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Abigail Mountain, a sophomore at Slippery Rock University. A public health major with a 4.0 GPA, Mountain is pursuing a career as a physician assistant. A native of Venetia, Pa., Mountain is a member of the Slippery Rock University Honors College and volunteers her time in various activities, both in her hometown and in the Slippery Rock Community, including face painting at VillageFest and working with the UPMC Neighborhood Center.
Mackenzie Karnes, a native of Cranberry, Pa., is a sophomore at Slippery Rock University, studying communications and digital media. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA, Karnes hopes to enter the sports media industry upon graduation. Karnes is a graduate of Cranberry High School, where she volunteered with multiple organizations including the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, the National Honor Society and sports programs within the school district.
Britney Kuhn, a native of Volant, Pa., is an exercise science major at Slippery Rock University, entering her final year of undergraduate studies. With a 4.0 GPA, Kuhn was accepted to Logan University, where she will be working toward her Doctor of Chiropractic degree beginning in the fall of 2025. Kuhn has worked tirelessly in the community in her time at SRU, volunteering with Slippery Rock Parks and Recreation, the Slippery Rock Community Library, the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, the American Red Cross and more. A member of the Slippery Rock University Honors College, she hopes to become a chiropractor and open up her own practice in her future.
